UKHCA AGM and Poila Boisakh Celebration- 2026

The beginning of ‘Noboborsho’ or the Bengali New Year always brings in a promise for fresh perspectives. It is a time to look forward and plan ahead while taking stock of the year gone by. At UKHCA, we follow this religiously every year, albeit with some grand celebrations and sumptuous food thrown into the mix.

This year we at UKHCA celebrated ‘Noboborsho’ along with our Annual General Meeting on 19th April, 2026. We saw a record turnout of members this year, a growing testimony of our social outreach projects. It was heartwarming to see UKHCA transcend the boundaries of multi generational age groups as the young and the new proudly flaunted their roots and looked their best on the day while the older lot gave them some tough competition. The finest of ‘sarees’, ‘dhutis’, jewellery and smiles were adorned while we sat together and enjoyed the hearty lunch with blockbuster dishes like ‘chitol maacher muithya’, ‘beguni’, ‘echorer dalna’ and ‘paayesh’ on the menu. The free flowing Prosecco and later, the ‘cha’ set the mood while we all sat down post lunch to have some fruitful discussions about our planned events throughout the year.

UKHCA values the opinions of its members highly and as a democratic forum, suggestions were taken for budgeting and future provisions while planning out events and making them accessible for everyone in the community. The bonhomie was palpable as we all seemed to agree on the larger picture. Perhaps, the weather also loved it a bit too much as the sun god kept smiling on us. The day ended with some crowd favourite games and needless to say there were some hooting and whistles for the participants and the winners.

A very special surprise was revealed to the members this year during the AGM which will gradually be revealed to all soon. If you are curious to know, you are in for a pleasant surprise! Keep watching this space for more.
